People are increasingly turning to light bars for use in all types of lighting requirements. While this is a welcome trend, using incandescent lights and fluorescent lights in a light bar is not a very sound proposition, because it is not cost effective in the long run and can be detrimental to the atmosphere. LED lights will be better for light bars but users should understand the ground rules of using them to be able to leverage it the right way.

Light bars have come to stay. There are no arguments about it. Whether by chance or because of diligent market research, the innovation of light bars has turned out to be something that correctly catered to the existing market needs and its production has continued to progress in many ways after that. With the advent of LED lights also on the scene, light bars are practically the crowns in the lighting industry. In light output and energy efficiency, LED light bars have hardly any challengers. It is used for decorative lighting, home lighting, and most importantly in emergency vehicle lighting.

The light bars that are in use today use incandescent lights or fluorescent lights or LED lights. Despite the various plus points of LED lights, it is still to find universal appeal mainly because they are expensive. So, many people are forced to rely on light bars that use incandescent lights or fluorescent lights mainly because they cannot afford to opt for LED light bars. Though light bars using LED technology may be cost effective in the long run, initial investment is hard for many people.

Light bars using incandescent lights and fluorescent lights will also provide good lights but both are harmful to the environment. Incandescent bulbs generate a lot of heat thus increasing carbon emission in the atmosphere, plus it requires a lot of energy and the bulbs do not last long. Fluorescent lights last longer and are more energy efficient compared to incandescent lights and to that extent is better for use in light bars. But the problem with fluorescent lights is that they contain mercury, which is highly harmful to the environment. The mercury from discarded fluorescent lights will ooze down to the earth and could contaminate ground water eventually.

If people can fully understand the working of LED lights and how it will become beneficial in the long term, more and more people and departments will definitely go in for LED light bars. The thing to understand here is the importance of making all sorts of lighting investments long term. Whether you are using light bars for home lighting or emergency vehicle lighting, consider whether you will be using it long term. If you will be, LED light bars will be a right investment.

Even as short-term investment, use of LED lights will be the more eco-friendly option, but it will not make economic sense to the users. Since LED bulbs have a life of more than 50,000 hours, a long term investment in LED light bars will make economic sense to the users plus they can save on energy and also thus save environment. For that, things have to be planned in such a way that LED light bars should be made long term. When they are being used in emergency vehicles, those who arrange for it should ensure that it would continue to get used even after the vehicle on which it is used gets pensioned off. For home use also, they should be installed with a plan for long-term use to be fully beneficial.
