Saving Electricity with Dryers |

While you may feel that Santa has brought you the best present ever with that new dryer, you may change your mind when the next power bill rolls around. Dryers are not energy efficient; they blow hot air through the clothing, but from there it is wasted by being vented outside - or it may even be left go into your room where it will increase the humidity and may cause mould to grow.
So what can you do instead of using the dryer? There are many airing racks on the market. You can get a circular fold-up one to hang from any handy point, though these are only suitable for small items of clothing. You can get larger airing racks that if placed in a draught will dry larger items over a day or two in really wet weather. Or you can use your airing racks in combinations with the dryer. Leaving newly laundered items on your airing racks for 24 hours before placing them in the dryer will cut down on the length of time you need to run it. And if you turn it down to the cool cycle halfway through the drying process, this will help to cut down your costs. Setting it to automatically turn off when the clothes are dry is another way to save. Over-drying clothes is a sheer waste of your good money. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
