Candida albicans is the full name of this yeast and they can be found in a number of different strains, which cause canine infections.
When the yeast grows too much, it causes an infection to appear. This smell is both unpleasant and quite unusual, so you can't really miss it. If you see your dog itching constantly and you also notice the weird smell, chances are that he has a yeast infection. The second thing you should look for is skin lesions. These might make the dog's skin look like that of an elephant. These clues can give you an idea of what he might have, but you need to go to a vet to be sure. He will make sure it's canine yeast infection and he will give you a number of tips on how to treat the dog. For example, he will tell you which nutrients to give to the dog, so he remains healthy, how to maintain the proper hygiene of a dog and how to keep him comfortable at all times. The proper use of anti fungal medicine is another thing you should learn, if he has to take antibiotics.
