Turn The Sound Down By Soundproofing

The hustle and bustle of life brings with it many disadvantages. Screaming neighbours, car alarms going off, the sirens of the emergency services, music blaring out from car stereos, the list goes on and on. Unfortunately not all of us can live in homes which are secluded and away from main roads and noisy neighbours, so we need to be proactive if we want to prevent noise invading the home.

There are a number of sound insulation materials available which work to block sound from travelling through walls, floors, ceilings and windows. Soundproofing is the process of lowering the intensity of a sound by surrounding the source of the noise with noise absorbent materials or surfaces.

Soundproof doors are one of the best ways of repelling external noise. Many existing doors may have tiny gaps which are almost impossible to spot with the naked eye, but even the tiniest of gaps can let in a considerable amount of noise.

Acoustic doors are extremely high performance sound reducing. They are commonly available in a veneered or painted finish and are fire rated. They can be installed used in areas as well as the home which require high sound reduction performance such as radio and TV studios, music rooms, interview rooms and cinemas.

A well designed acoustic door must have a well designed frame, otherwise sound can creep in through the edges. Not only will it help with noise reduction usually up to around 54db, but an acoustic door can help keep a room cool or warm depending on the outside temperature.

Exposure to excessive noise pollution can cause people to suffer from physiological and psychological effects, stress and potential aggression. So, have a look around your rooms and try and identify areas which could benefit from soundproofing, as soundproofing ceilings, floors and windows could also bring an end to that annoying ringing in your ears.
