First things first: make sure you are being safe before you even begin the task. Your garage door must be well lubricated and operating properly before you attempt to install the opener. Never remove the door's springs, cables or pulleys. Let a professional work with those things. Deactivate all existing locks so they do not accidentally engage, causing personal injury. Another way to avoid personal injury is to make sure you are dressed for the job. If there is some sort of glitch, you do not want to have to experience the consequences. Check the electric eye periodically, and do some readjusting if necessary. If you see any damage to the opener, the door, or the garage that could pose a threat to you or your family, contact a qualified service technician before you use the opener again.
