Garden Tools: The Best for Your Buck |

You are tired of winter, and you've started dreaming of the great garden you're going to plant come spring. You may even start digging out the tired old garden tools to get prepared. Yuck! Who wants to start a fresh new season using that old junk? You make up your mind that this is the year to buy new tools for the best garden ever, but when you go out and start pricing them, the old junk starts looking a whole lot better. Where can you buy affordable garden tools? Right now, the fervor is high. Everyone is gung-ho to get out there in the garden. It's the season to buy garden tools, and the prices are at their highest. You wonder why you didn't think of this last fall when the stores were selling out their inventories, but that's a moot point now. There are some bargains out there, but you're going to have to watch for them. If you're unable to find any bargains at your usual stores, ask an employee if there are any upcoming sales that they haven't advertised yet. Tell them what it is you want to buy, and you may find a big sale's going to start tomorrow. Isn't it the most frustrating thing when you buy some things only to find out a day or two later that they're on sale at a much better price than you paid? Shop in Discount Stores Even if you don't usually shop in discount or outlet stores, you might give them a try. You may discover they've gotten in a batch of last year's tools that are being cleared out to make way for the newer models. These will be brand new tools at greatly-reduced prices. I'm betting you that no one is going to know that they're "obsolete". Another great way to find good garden tools at more affordable prices is to look at used items. Don't pass up items because they looked a little scratched or dirty. You can always clean them up, and you may well find a treasure underneath the grime. Garage sales and flea markets are often the places to find great items at bargain prices. It can even be fun shopping at these types of sales. Don't settle for the price marked on the item. You can often get the seller to lower the price substantially by doing a little dickering. A lot of really great deals are made this way. There are even people who just plain over-shop. They go around picking up good deals and then end up with more of certain items than they can possibly use. Some of the yard sales you go to will be these very people selling off their overstock, which may include garden tools, they've never even used. Keep your eyes open, because bargains are everywhere!
