Childproofing Your Home |

Statistics show that more young children are hurt in the home than anywhere else. This makes sense, because littlies spend the biggest part of their lives in their home. And home is where they can often get away from mother's watchful eye while she is on the phone or cooking a meal. So go through your home and childproof it to save you and your child from the trauma of an accident. All dangerous or poisonous goods should be kept in a locked cupboard, with the key's whereabouts known only to adults. Toddlers should not be allowed entry into dangerous areas. Even the garage is dangerous to a toddler if you don't know they are sitting behind the car when you reverse out. Sharp corners and edges need to have foam taped over them, while power points should be plugged with appropriate covers. Cupboard doors and drawers should have childproof locks on them, while baby gates can prevent toddlers falling down stairs or getting into rooms they shouldn't be in. Swimming pools need to be properly fenced and have a self-latching gate, while high decks need strong mesh that is too fine to allow toes to get in, or else they will climb up it. The fence should reach right to the floor to prevent the loss of toys. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
