Carports, garages, RV ports, boat coverings, and covered parking areas of all sorts certainly serve several important functions. They protect valuable items from the damaging rays of the sun, from harsh elements, and from dust and other contaminants that would be harmful. They also give some protection and security from theft. Not much, but some. At least they provide a designated spot to store valuable vehicles and other things in. These sorts of considerations are important, especially at this wintery time of year.

I'll run through some ideas here to try to help get your started on the right track.
