I'm mad and I want to share it with the world! Well, I'm not really "mad" or even angry for that matter thanks to the close eye I now have on my diet, but I do believe in sharing what I know to be true about having a healthy lifestyle with as many people as possible. As a Gen X-er, I am astounded by the number of unhealthy young adults I meet on a regular basis. And what's worse is that the problem is only growing with each future generation. I understand now that "good health" and "western diet" are not synonymous terms. In short, the western diet and sedentary lifestyle are creating a consistent status of DisEase in our bodies. As someone who grew up with chronic digestion issues that eventually led to: • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; • Celiac Sprue Disease; • Gallstones; and • Rosacea and who is now in almost perfect health, I think I know a thing or two about this topic. After all, I have been searching for the "root cause" of these various illnesses for a long time. Each new Internet search and new doctor got me closer to the truth and now I'm at the point where it all makes perfect sense to me! WANT TO KNOW THE SECRET? -- It's so simple, you wouldn't believe it! Listen to your body and follow an acid-alkaline diet and your body won't have to feel DisEase. In fact, it can feel great all the time! The trick is to put nutrition in your body that enhances cellular repair and the proper utilization of enzymes and minerals in the body. A quick home pH stick test will show you where you are and how you are progressing over time. I'm guessing by now you want to know how I stumbled upon the secret to good health. The answer is that I used the 5 whys to get to the bottom. The conversation went a little like this: Doctor: My dear, you have chronic fatigue syndrome because you aren't producing enough seratonin to sustain your normal life activities. Me: So, doctor, that's great that I'm not getting enough seratonin in my brain to handle my life activities, but why is that the case? Doctor: You aren't producing enough ATP for neurotransmitter activity. Me: Then, what is preventing my brain cells from making ATP? Doctor: You have a chemical imbalance in your brain related to your pituitary gland function. Me: Okay, so it's related to the pituitary gland but isn't the pituitary connected to the adrenal glands . . . you know -- the whole mind/body connection thing? Okay - so I'm a bit of a smart aleck because maybe I know too much for my own good. But then I find out that the adrenal glands can be impaired if your digestive system is not functioning at optimum performance. And, you remember what I said about having chronic digestion issues my whole life, right? I began to notice that when my digestive system functioned, my weight was stable but when it was in a state of DisEase, I gained weight. So, when 2 + 2 = 4, I don't need to ask "why?" anymore. Then do your own food test: (1) get a good pH food book, preferably with recipes; (2) buy some pH stick on-line or at your local organic food store; (3) keep a diary of what you eat and how you feel. (4) After a month of BEING CONSISTENT, check back here and tell me about your results! Good luck on your journey! CHEERS TO YOUR HEALTH!
