GINKGO BILOBA Ginkgo has two groups of active substances, flavonoids and terpene lactones, including ginkgolides A, B, and C, bilobalide, quercetin, and kaempferol. The ginkgolides have been shown to control allergic inflammation, anaphylactic shock and asthma. Studies have shown that flavonoids helps in protecting the nerves, heart muscle, and retina, and at the same time, terpenoids improves blood flow. The standardized ginkgo biloba extract is obtained from the gingko leaves and is used for its medicinal properties. The leaves in its natural state is rarely used, being that the ginkgo biloba extract is far more effective. USES OF GINKGO BILOBA
The herb has been used in treatment of other circulation-related disorders such as diabetic peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud's syndrome, hemorrhoids and varicose veins.
