The acai berry contains a series of 19 amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and our bodies have need of them.

Amino acids are organic compounds containing an amino group and a carboxylic acid group that make up proteins. Proteins are composed of various proportions of about twenty common amino acids. Amino acids are comprised of about sixteen percent nitrogen, which is what separates the amino acid from other important nutrients like sugars and fatty acids.

Amino acids are indispensable to life as human beings are mostly made up of protein, which provides the organization for all living organisms.

The worth of amino acids is further emphasized when one considers that protein is the second largest component of a individual's body weight second only to water. Proteins are necessary elements that influence all systems in the body. Even hormones and enzymes are made up of proteins and hormones and enzymes are vital regulators in bodily functions. The genetic information that is carried in chromosomes has a structural basis of proteins that is carried from the parent to the child.

Amino acids are in reality a succession of amino acids that are joined together like a chain. Each protein is made up of a precise group of amino acids and placed in a specific arrangement. Each protein is created to be able to meet a particular need in the body and cannot be exchanged for another protein.

Each protein made up from amino acids is distinctive and is formed when a person eats food that has dietary protein, which is broken down into amino acid form and is then used by the body to make the essential proteins as they are needed.

The human body has about twenty-eight individual amino acids that come together to make hundreds of kinds of proteins. There are also special amino acids that are not made in the body and must be ingested through food that are known as hitidine, isoleune, lysine, phenylalanine, leucine, methionine, valine, tryptophan and theonine.

The amino acids that are not listed within this group of essential amino acids are the ones that can be created by the body. They are just as crucial to life as the others. Eating a wholesome and balanced diet and including wholesome supplements can make sure that the body maintains a healthy equilibrium in every system.
