Banana is one of the most effective home remedies for the treatment of a peptic ulcer. This fruit is said to contain an unidentified compound, perhaps jokingly called vitamin U (against ulcers). Banana neutralises the over-acidity of the gastric juices and reduces the irritation of the ulcer by coating the lining of the stomach. Patients who are in an advanced state of the disease should take a diet consisting only of two bananas with a glass of milk, three or four times a day. Chili, pizza, and tacos were out. Toast, crackers, and the rest of the bland band were in. It was anything but sweet music to the ears of people who were trying to live with recurring, raging infernos in the depths of their stomachs. Cabbage is regarded as another useful home remedy for a peptic ulcer: 250 gm should be boiled in 500 ml of water till it is reduced to half; this water should be allowed to cool, and taken twice daily. The juice extracted from raw cabbage is also a valuable medicine for a peptic ulcer. However, as this juice is very strong, it should be taken in combination with carrot juice, in quantities of 125 ml each. Dab with lemon juice a few times a day. Or dab some toothpaste on it. My friends and I swear by the toothpaste. It works wonders. We prefer the white toothpaste over the blue stuff. Or, try this; saturate a tea bag in warm water and press on affected area for 5 minutes then rinse. Another good one is to use a cotton swab to dab on some Milk of magnesia. Let it dry and then rinse. Tip; Get the red out of blemishes by dotting on a drop of Visine! Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen - though they may be very popular otherwise, but must be avoided by a patient suffering from peptic ulcers. Evaluate your diet to determine if you should eliminate unhealthy eating habits. Excessive fried foods are not good for anyone. If you are predisposed to stomach ulcers, you will want to cut out possible exacerbating foods. Take bayberry, bistort, burdock, goldenseal, hops, hyssop, myrrh, pennyroyal, pokeweed, red raspberry, sage, white oak bark, wild yam, and yucca to aid the healing process. Take alfalfa, comfrey, horsetail, pectin, and slippery elm to relieve intestinal and stomach ulcers. Drinking the almond milk made from blanched almonds is very beneficial as it supplies good quality protein and also binds the excess of acid in the stomach. Yoga asanas like vajrasana, uttanpadasana, pavanamuktasana, bhujanganasana, paschimottanasana are beneficial in the treatment of acidity. Aloe Vera. Aloe is good for sunburns relieving pain and inflammation. Aloe has good cicatrization effects in burns and minor wounds. Aloe Vera is used to control constipation problems, digestive irritation, obesity problems and great way to control and cure stomach ulcers. Treatment of ulcers involves relieving the irritation so that healing is able to progress naturally. Antacids counteract stomach acid and relieve symptoms, but they can also cause complications. For example, sodium bicarbonate, a primary antacid ingredient, contains large amounts of sodium, which can aggravate kidney disease or high blood pressure.
