"With so many businesses out there offering web based solutions it's difficult to know who is right for the job. This article provides a list of web design related questions for you to arm yourself with when you go down the procurement process. 1. Check if web design is their specialism? Lots of other design companies, print companies, or business service companies offer Web design as a service. But they may well outsource the service or work with a partner. Partnerships can work well as the company you have approached have already done the ground work to find a good web design company. Either way establishing how things are going to work logistically will be help full as you move on with the project. 2. Check the design company has an existing portfolio and some testimonials. Both of these things are very important factors when choosing the right web designer to work with. By checking their portfolio you can see if they have the skills to meet your design requirement and by asking for testimonials you can see if they have happy customers and see what think of the company's service. Don't be afraid to ring a couple of their clients without telling them! 3. How will they be building your website? Seems like a technical question and it is to an extent. There are a set of guidelines set out by the W3C (World Wide Web Commission) which state the latest coding techniques and methods. Ensure your designer meets these so that you're not having a website built with out of date techniques! 4. Know what your goals are! This is for you to consider more than anything. You can work these out with a good web designer, however it will benefit you to have them worked out in advance...Is the website just a brochure to support your marketing? Do you want lots of leads and enquiries? Do you want to seel products? Do you see big website developments in the future? All things that are very important information when you meet with a web designer. Hopefully this arms you with enough information to make the right decision when it comes to spending on web design.
