Veganism is a relatively new type of diet. The vegan lifestyle means eating no animal products, using no animal products, and in some cases, not dating or being with those who do. It can be very healthy and satisfying, but also controversial. What Food Can Vegans Eat? For many non vegans, what vegans eat is the most perplexing question of the vegan lifestyle. They simply do not eat meat or animal products. Some switch to being vegan simply to avoid the growth hormones given to animals, which may cause damage to humans. Can Children Be Vegan? There is some controversy about whether it is safe or healthy for children to be raised as vegan. For infants, a vegan lifestyle can be deadly. For older children, caution must be maintained to ensure they have the proper nutrients to grow. The Vegan Food Pyramid The vegan food pyramid is a useful guide for those who are trying to be as healthy as possible while maintaining a vegan lifestyle. It gives serving suggestions for several different food groups which make up a vegan diet. Whether or not the vegan lifestyle is truly healthy is up for some debate.
