Most people are aware of the dangers of smoking, yet despite knowing about the damaging effects of smoking on their own health, many smokers can't seem to quit. They defend their habit by assuming they are only affecting themselves if they smoke. In actuality, smoking also has an effect on the health of those who do not smoke. Family, children, friends, co-workers, and even casual bystanders may suffer negative effects from passive smoke. What is passive smoking? You probably are familiar with the term "secondhand smoke" to describe smoke inhaled by someone within close proximity to a smoker. Secondhand smoke is a mixture of smoke from a burning pipe, cigar, or cigarette, and exhaled smoke. It often has greater amounts of dangerous chemicals than inhaled smoke, for instance, double the amount of nicotine and tar. This puts those exposed to secondhand smoke at an increased risk of smoking related diseases and health problems. Studies of the effects of passive smoking on health show increased risks for lung disease, heart disease, and various illnesses for people continually exposed to secondhand smoke. Health data on smoking and passive smoking show a relationship between passive smoking and cancer, with people exposed to secondhand smoke having an increased risk of lung cancer and heart disease. It is not uncommon for a nonsmoking spouse or child of a smoker to develop illnesses related to smoking because of constant secondhand smoke inhalation. Secondhand smoke is especially bad for infants and children. Young children exposed to secondhand smoke are at a higher risk of respiratory diseases and other respiratory health problems. Asthmatic children are at an increased risk of having frequent asthma attacks. Passive smoking is also responsible for raising a pregnant woman's risk of having a premature or low birth weight baby. Because of the health effects of passive smoking, smoking has been outlawed in many public areas, such as restaurants and bars. Secondhand smoke can also be a problem in the workplace. Workers who breathe in secondhand smoke have a higher risk of illness and even have more absences from work. This has led many offices to ban smoking, and some areas have even passed legislation against smoking in the workplace. Among workplaces with a ban on smoking, employers report more productive employees and fewer absences from work. Ultimately, most smokers begin searching for ways to stop smoking out of concern for their family's health. There are many ways to quit smoking, and one of the best ways is through the use of a quit smoking hypnosis program. Hypnosis programs for quitting smoking are formulated specifically to help smokers quit smoking without withdrawal. They are particularly successful because they help smokers fight the psychological aspect of the addiction, which is the most difficult aspect to beat. Self-hypnotherapy programs for quitting smoking are formulated to teach people self-hypnosis techniques to help stop smoking. One of the best things about such a program is the fact that smokers learn how to quit smoking without experiencing withdrawal symptoms. In fact, hypnosis techniques can reduce or even completely eliminate withdrawal symptoms commonly experienced using other methods of quitting smoking. Another good thing is that since people are instructed on how to perform hypnotherapy techniques on themselves, they don't have to worry about experiencing a relapse. If they feel the urge to smoke, they just recall and utilize the techniques that helped them quit. Hypnosis produces many effects to help people stop smoking. It is a powerful tool for eliminating smoking cravings while also functioning as a relaxation aid to relieve stress and anxiety. It also works as a motivational aid to eliminate the psychological addiction to smoking. This variety of effects gives hypnosis its effectiveness in helping people to quit smoking for good. The benefits of stopping smoking include improved health for the former smoker as well as for co-workers, family, and friends. Smokers who are looking to quit for the sake of their families can turn to hypnotherapy for an effective and non-invasive tool for quitting. Anyone can learn self-hypnosis techniques for quitting from a good hypnosis program, and hypnotherapy has a high rate of success because it makes quitting smoking easier and faster.
