Hypertension is derived from two root words; Hyper meaning
High and Tension meaning Pressure. Hypertension simply means high blood
pressure. Pressure is the force generated when the heart contracts and pump
blood through the blood vessels that conduct the blood to various parts of the
blood.
Hypertension also increases your risk of having a stroke or
heart attack, and can lead to other diseases as well as make other health
conditions even worse. It is important to your health and your future to learn
about the risk factors and by controlling and altering what you have control
over you can change you decrease your risks. Individuals who consume excessive amounts of salt are greatly at risk. People who live a sedentary lifestyle and don't get sufficient amounts of exercise may also have a high risk for getting hypertension. The use of cigarettes or large amounts of alcohol will also play a role in a person's risk. In addition to this, obesity, stress, and saturated fat are important factors as well. The underlying structures that are connected to these factors and hypertension are well understood by doctors and scientists. There are three common causes that most experts believe is connected to hypertension. The treatments for hypertension mostly include a mix of medication and a disciplined lifestyle. Here it must be noted that none of this will work if taken independently. Someone with hypertension needs to follow the prescriptions punctually meanwhile adopting a health lifestyle marked by a controlled diet and regular workout/physical exercise. Finally, one must also realize that an existing issue of hypertension could be aggravated by activities like smoking, drinking, and medicines containing steroids. Therefore, take care to avoid such things as well from one's daily activities. Other types of hypertension include malignant hypertension,
isolated systolic hypertension, white coat hypertension and resistant
hypertension. Malignant hypertension is severe and can lead to damage of organs
such as the heart, kidneys and the brain. Isolated systolic hypertension
results from age related loss of elasticity of arteries, when the blood
pressure is consistently above 160/91 mm Hg. White coat hypertension is caused
by anxiety and can be controlled by incorporating changes in lifestyle.
Resistant hypertension is a condition in which the blood pressure cannot be
reduced below 140/90 mm Hg, despite medication. Natural supplements to treat hypertension exist. These
supplements reduce blood pressure by lowering the cholesterol and lipid content
in the blood, by preventing oxidation of tissue components by free radicals,
and by helping damaged blood vessels to heal. Examples of ingredients having
these effects are vitamin B3, inositol, turmenic extract and gum guggul
extract. They may also contain Ingredients giving a direct anti-hypertensive
effect, like potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin C and fatty acids from
marine sources. This hypertension is often referred as silent killer because there are usually no signs or symptoms. It only occurs when the pressure of the blood flowing through your arteries is too high. This increase pressure puts extra stress on the other organs like heart, kidneys and blood vessels.
