How to Remove Freckles

Freckles, age spots and pregnancy mask have several things in common. They are formed in sun exposed areas: face, hands, chest and back. These unwelcome brown patches are nothing more than accumulation of skin pigment melanin which is always produced by the skin. The amount of melanin present determines the skin tone of an individual. Extra melanin is produced by the body in response to sun exposure: it absorbs UV rays and does not allow them to penetrate deep into the skin layers as it would be damaging.

The appearance of freckles on one's skin is the result of an uneven distribution of the pigment known as melanin. An unusually high concentration of melanin in a particular area results in freckling. Also known as ephelides, freckles appear on portions of the skin that are exposed to sunlight (with existing freckles becoming more visible with increased exposure to the sun's rays), as the epidermis or outer layer of skin produces more melanin to protect the skin's lower layers from the harmful effects of the sun's rays.

For most people, freckles may be found anywhere on the body, though face, arms, chest and back are the most common areas. While most people don't care how many freckles they develop, or where they are located, some people don't like them a bit. While it's difficult, if not impossible, to remove freckles, your best bet would be to prevent them from developing in the first place. The most common method of protecting the skin these days is through the use of sunscreens, especially those rating an SPF of 15 and above. Wearing light, loose-fitting clothes that cover sensitive skin of the face, neck and shoulders is also an option.

Usually you can find freckles on the face, although they may appear on any skin area which is exposed to the sun ray. Freckles are rare on infants, and more common on children before puberty; they are less common on adults. People with freckles usually have a lower concentration of photoprotective melanin and are more susceptible to the harmful effects of UV-radiation. An overexposure of UV-radiation should be avoided.

Microdermabrasion systems use various particles including diamonds, aluminum oxide and salt crystal to abrade the skin. Before the treatment, the area is thoroughly cleansed to take away excess oil. The resurfacing device gently scrapes off the skin removing dead skin cells, allowing smoother and plumper skin to reveal. The vacuum attached to the device unclogs the pores and aids with the stimulation of the blood hastening the blood circulation that provide the nutrients needed for the skin regeneration.

Hyperpigmentation can affect the skin color of people of all races. What are the different types of hyperpigmentation. Freckles are small brown spots that can appear anywhere on the body but are most commonly seen on the face and arms and other sun exposed areas. Freckles are more common in fair skinned individuals as a result of sun exposure. Therefore, they can occur even in children. Freckles are most prominent in the summer but will fade in the winter as old skin cells are shed and replaced by new ones.
