Cold sores can be humiliating,
especially when you notice people are staring at them. It can actually lower
your self-esteem. It's also a hassle and frustrating trying to get rid of them.
So, what I'm going to do is share with you a home remedy for cold sores. One of the other remedies is tea bags. For most people this
is the first method they try, because tea bags are already available in the
house. The best way to use the tea bags, is to put them directly on the blisters.
After a few minutes the pain disappears. A tea bag is placed over the blisters
for a few minutes. There are two important things to remember. You have to
repeat it after about an hour. And you have to use a new tea bag every single
time. At the first sign of a cold sore forming, you can put ice
into a bag or a towel and apply directly to the cold sore. People swear by this
and it is one of the most well known remedies still around today for treating
cold sores. People recommended you do this at least three times a day for 10 to
15 minutes at a time. It is believed that ice helps to ward off the cold sore
as it freezes the cold sore and the bacteria causing it. Below are a few
samples of home remedies. The most popular way of treating cold sore non-pharmacologically is through having a proper diet. Since cold sore is caused by the herpes simplex virus, a boost in the body's immune system would be one way to combat it and this can be done through eating nutritious foods. Samples of this are fresh vegetables and fruits. Consumption of yogurt that has active acidophilus bacteria would also be good for persons with cold sores. Home remedies that prevent cold sore outbreaks do not kill the virus that causes them. There is no known cure for herpes, but the remedies can suppress the virus and render it unable to cause trouble. There are many remedies for cold sores; however, not all of them work. The ones that I know work for sure are garlic and green tea. Garlic is a very good remedy for preventing and treating cold sores because it is a natural antibiotic. Garlic is a virulent germ killer. Taking this powerful herb internally and applying it to the cold sore will do wonders for you. Proper diet is also one of the cold sores home remedies.
This includes regular intake of foods which are known to have high quantities
of antioxidants. Fruits and leafy vegetables are excellent choices. It also
helps to eliminate processed and salty foods from the diet as well as food
types known to have acidic contents. Caffeine intake should also be minimized.
Other foods to be avoided include peanuts, oatmeal, chocolates and other foods
that have high arginine content. Instead, complex carbohydrates intake should
be increased to treat cold sores. Garlic can also be incorporated in the diet. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
