Nail clippers are designed to be used both on finger and on toe nails. Similar to cuticle clippers, they work by opening the blade over the area needed to be trimmed. You then close them, cutting off the part of the nail. Also, as with cuticle clippers, they have to be kept as sharp as possible. Correct Usage of Nail Clippers Many people make the mistake of trying to cut their nails in just one movement. What you need to know is that it will take several cuts along the nail to produce the best results. Natural nails are not straight and the cut shouldn't be straight either. You need to follow the natural curve of the nail and cut around it. It will take at least three cuts to get the desired shape. If you do try to cut the nail in one go it will cause discomfort and possibly cause damage too. Whilst nail clippers can cut both finger and toe nails, you will need different sized clippers for them both. Finger nails are not as tough as toe nails and so you will only need a small pair of clippers for them. However, as the toe nails are bigger and tougher, you will need a big, heavy duty pair of clippers for them. Again, if you try to use smaller clippers on toe nails it could cause damage and it will make your job very difficult. You should also follow the same usage instructions for toe nails as you would with finger nails. Always cut more than once so that you get the shape right. Suitable for both Natural and Artificial Use Nail clippers can be used on both natural and artificial nails. With artificial nails you often need to trim them down to the right length. Different clients will want different sized nails and artificial nails do not always come in the exact right length. No matter which type of nail you are cutting, you need to always follow the number one rule - make more than one cut! Overall using nail clippers correctly is vital if you don't want to cause damage or discomfort to your clients. You need to always follow the shape of the nail and avoid cutting just once. Ideally you will make at least three cuts for the best results. If you follow this advice then you will avoid any unnecessary damage. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
