1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda fully dissolved in a glass of water - 2hours as needed, no more than 7 times a day (or just read the side of an Arm&Hammer Baking Soda box) Worked great for me for upset stomach/nausea also should work fine for heartburn. (Or as another post suggests, just eat some soda crackers) Some have found that just smelling a lemon can ease nausea. The next time you're feeling sick to your stomach, cut open a lemon and take a deep breath. This simple treatment might soothe your upset stomach. However, if the lemon smell just makes your nausea worse, toss the lemon and try something else. Acupressure can benefit provided you know the right pressure points. You can do this by applying pressure between the thumb and forefinger. This would help remove the queasy feeling and stop vomiting sensations. Anyway, you are advised to consult an acupressure specialist to know the right pressure point. Just freshly ground ginger root (fair amount, don't be stingy) into hot water, let steep like tea and sieve the grated pieces out with a spoon or cover the hot water with a piece of cheesecloth or gauze for easy removal following the steeping process. Drink while hot and may put in a tablespoon of honey for flavor but remember that honey has sedative effects. Teas: Peppermint, Ginger, Chamomile, Lemon, Raspberry, Cinnamon. Can also try a tea made with fresh ginger and lemon juice or a few cloves steeped in hot water. Nutritional Support. Initially, patients should not eat solid food or may need to stop consuming food and drink altogether. When feeding resumes, clear liquids are given first and the diet advanced as tolerated. When obstruction or chronic symptoms makes feeding by mouth impossible, alternate access for nutrition and fluid support are used. A nasoenteric tube can be placed through the nose into the small intestine, and feeding solutions administered directly into the intestines (known as enteral feeding or tube feeding). A second option is to place a venous catheter into an arm vein or some other vein and infuse a prepared solution containing all the essential nutrients and vitamins directly into the blood stream. This is called total parenteral nutrition or hyperalimentation. Fluids are given by mouth if you can keep them down, or through a vein into the bloodstream. The IV route is a common way to give fluids back to the body in moderate to severe dehydration. Morning sickness is a very common feature among pregnant ladies. To avoid this nauseating morning sickness mix 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar with 1 tbsp honey. Mix it in cold water and have it before going to bed. Cola syrup is highly effective in nausea, upset stomach, and vomiting. I have found that as soon as I give it to my 4 year old, he is able to relax with little to no vomiting after wards. It doesn't taste gross, so kids and adults can take it without adding an extra gag. Read the directions on the bottle. The typical direction is 1-2 tablespoons over crushed ice, sip slowly.
