Asthma is a chronic condition affecting the respiratory system. During an asthma attack, airways, which bring oxygen to and out of the lungs, tend to tighten and thus reduce the flow of air coming to the lungs. The airways are also swollen and lined up with mucus. Such symptoms can happen many times in a day or week, or a lot less often. The gravity of the attacks also changes. Several triggers may be responsible for asthma attacks and the breathlessness that is corollary. Asthma can also cause chest pain and loss of consciousness. It is a very grave disease and can at times be lethal: indeed, while 300 million people are affected by asthma around the world, asthma attacks are responsible for the death of around 250,000 people every year. People with asthma also suffer from its side effects in their everyday life. Insomnia and sleeplessness is a common experience that can lead to fatigue during the daytime, and can have a negative impact on one's personal and professional life. The World Health Organization even acknowledges that "reduced activity levels" and "school and work absenteeism" are common side effects of asthma. Sports will often be more difficult for people with asthma, which may for example be a social isolation factor for a child. Although asthma cannot be definitively cured, doctors have found several ways to relieve and prevent the symptoms, making it possible for everybody that has asthma to stay in shape, exercise and have a normal life. With the appropriate treatments, there is no reason why anybody with asthma should not be allowed to enjoy an active life. Different factors are able to trigger an asthma attack. Some are very basic things like the temperature and humidity of the air. However, the most common ones are natural environmental allergens, such as house dust mites, cockroaches, spore and pollen as well as pollution from chemical compounds, like the ones found in perfumes and perfumed products, tobacco smoke or fossil fuel related air pollution. Medications like aspirin or penicillin as well as several foods, like milk or peanuts, in case of food allergies, are also able to trigger asthma. Asthma attack can also happen after exercising. Your emotional state can also be an important factor in causing an asthmatic attack. Tension, anxiety and emotional stress are all able to trigger it. Several patients experiencing an asthmatic attack also make their condition worse by falling prey to panic, a totally normal response to the dreadful experience they have to endure. To better control asthmatic attacks, these triggers ought to be avoided as much as possible. Allergies are also responsible for triggering asthma attacks and allergy treatment can be taken in order to prevent them. There are however several types of asthma treatment. In the short-run, asthma attack treatment will give relief in the case of an asthmatic attack. Asthma attack treatment is able to quickly provide asthma relief, however individuals with moderate to severe asthma must use a long-run asthma treatment. There are many forms of bronchial asthma treatment available out there, however some might not work out for you. Bronchial asthma treatment as well as allergy treatment also have a lot of side effects if used regularly and for an extended period of time, especially drugs containing corticosteroids or Beta2-adrenergic receptor agonists, the latter having cardiac side effects and increasing the risk of respiratory death. Those problems might explain why roughly half of asthmatic people use some form of alternative treatment, such as natural asthma treatment. Even though little evidence proves the effectiveness of treatments such as air ionizers or chiropractic, other forms of natural asthma treatments such as homeopathy, yoga practices and hypnosis have shown significant results as asthma treatment. Hypnosis, just like meditation or yoga, but in a much easier and faster way, provides asthma relief because it is able to help control the emotional side of asthma thanks to relaxation. With hypnosis you will be much more relaxed, which can help reduce the occurrences of asthmatic attacks. It will also make you able to better control the fear and panic during an attack, thus greatly reducing the symptoms. Most asthmatics are aware when an attack is imminent, and specific hypnosis techniques exist which enable the asthmatic to put a stop to an impending attack. Asthma is a serious respiratory disease, which can be very handicapping and at times even lethal. Drugs can help you with the physiological symptoms and might give prompt relief in the case of an attack. However these drugs present a lot of negative side effects, particularly if used too often. NLP and hypnotherapy can decrease your need for medication. It is also an effective asthma treatment and asthma attack treatment and can help you prevent the occurrences of asthmatic symptoms.
