Why students should make their own meals

With students, little changes with regards to finances. We may be in the grip of a recession, an economic slowdown and a housing crisis but the impact on student finances is minimal as students don't have any money now, and they didn't have any money before either. Because of this students have generally always had to scrimp and save for everything, often putting food at the bottom of their priority list, below text books and usually alcohol.

It shouldn't be like this though because students are able to eat well if they cook their own food, using student recipes that are perfect for low cost living.

For example, some simple pasta and sauce can be combined to make an excellent, nutritious and tasty pasta dish that costs very little to put together. A popular favourite among student recipes is home made curry. Spices can be cooked together with some chicken and vegetables to make a delicious curry that could either be shared among housemates, or saved in the fridge and enjoyed all week.

It's a myth that eating well and cooking at home has to be expensive. It can be very cheap; especially when you compare it with the cost of eating in the pub or getting takeaways from the local pizza place, which is a common favourite among students no matter how impoverished they are.
