When it comes to shopping online there are many things that users expect from an ecommerce store. The information they need should always be readily at hand and they also expect buttons and features to be in a specific place. When designing an ecommerce store you have to be aware of these things. Attempting to rewrite the rules and be too innovative can result in turning potential customers away. Here I will describe some of the things users come to expect from an ecommerce store.

Returns Policy

Every user wants to know if they have a problem with an item that they can return it easily. They will actively seek out a link for return policies to reassure themselves if there is a problem then it will be dealt with easily and quickly.

An ecommerce store should always have this link in prominent position on all pages so it's easy for the customer to find and read. Failure to do this can result in a customer's feeling unsure and in turn will lead to them not buying from your website.

My Basket

The most popular place to find "my Basket" is on to top right of the screen although it can be found in other areas, this is far the most popular location. This is where customers expect it to be and they can quickly see how much they have in their basket. Moving this button or failure to display it can confuse potential customers.

Search Feature

This feature is a must and should always be on every page so if a customer wants to search for a specific item they can. If a customer can't find what they are looking for then you will lose a sale even though you might actually have what they are trying to locate.

If you are looking for great ecommerce development I would recommend this company as they understand what works, they even have a great ecommerce demo that you can try for yourself.

These are just some of the more basic features that an ecommerce store should have. The problem sometimes is if your store isn't easy to use and navigate, you will just keep losing sales and in the competitive world of ecommerce you want to have as much of an advantage as possible. People buy from stores they trust and all the things you may think are miner all add up to a potential customer not having trust in your website.
