Both newsletters and postcards are successful marketing tools. Each have their own advantages. Newsletters help your company stay connected with customers, and postcards are a great advertising tool because the information is out in the open. Try combining these into a postcard newsletter for better results in creating relationships with consumers. Often, a newsletter can be difficult to fill with pertinent text. A 6x9 postcard is able to include just enough information to be interesting without the extra fluff included in many newsletters. So, what should be included for a successful newsletter disguised as postcard printing? Actually, the same information that is in a regular newsletter, just less. Layout your postcard with columns. This will help to keep the "news" feel. Also use the same tone that you would in your newsletter and avoid pushing for a sale. Just like a large newsletter, use a nameplate with the issue number, date, name, and a brief description. Include a few short articles that will be the most interesting to your target audience. You will only be able to fit around 400 words so use very precise sentences with concise yet packed full of action headlines. Interesting side blurbs or boxes that include a bulleted list of tips or advice and quotations help to break up the layout. An image or two that accurately displays the overall topic of the newsletter will help to capture attention. Write a call to action, preferably disguised as a "for more information," leading the reader to a website, a phone number, or an email address. Do not forget your contact information. Use the addressed side of the postcard as the front page so that when customers receive their mail, usually address side up, they will immediately see the newsletter title. A few more tips: before sending your postcards to print, check with the post office to see if your mock-up follows postal regulations. Once yours is ready to print, use a postcard printing company that offers full color, full bleed options for professional results.
