If you are new to the Internet money making machine called Affiliate marketing then this article is for you. Affiliate marketing has evolved from the days when Amazon.com offered webmasters a pay-for-performance opportunity if they advertised and sold books supplied by Amazon on their websites. Today the products that produce large profits for Affiliate marketers are adult, gambling and retail industry. On the other hand, there are properly optimized websites drawing over $100,000 per month in Affiliate money through other avenues. Companies that will pay you a percentage of the sale of a product you advertised are known as "Publishers". You (the advertiser/seller) are known as the "Affiliate". Google Adsence is a form of marketing where you're paid when someone clicks on an advertisement on your website (you get paid whether they buy or not). The difference between Affiliate marketing and Google Adsence is...Affiliate money is made on the sale and Google Adsense money is made on the click. In most cases Affiliate programs that pay per sale will generate higher profits in the short term. Websites or Affiliate Networks such as ClickBank, Commission Junction, Link share and others provide the advertising channels of Affiliate Marketing and will handle all financial transactions between Publishers and Affiliates. It is not always necessary to use a company like Click Bank or Commission Junction to find a network of Publishers but it does make good sense. Some online businesses prefer to handle the affiliate financial transactions themselves. For businesses offering products and services for sale to the public it also makes good business sense to develop a sustainable Marketing campaign that includes Affiliate marketing (but choose your affiliates wisely). Although it could be hard to track you want to make every effort to ensure your affiliates do not use spam tactics to market your product. Some Publishers offer bonuses to top performing Affiliates which fosters a more driven promotion campaign. There are people making 6+ figure annual incomes from this type of marketing. Do not think for a minute successful affiliate marketers have not put in the necessary research and development of their skills to get there. The most difficult part of marketing any product online is attracting leads and driving them through the purchasing cycle. The aforementioned entails a highly optimized website with content that shows the consumer why they should purchase said product. Affiliate Marketing is not a "get rich quick" business model. What it is, is a opportunity for the average individual that would like to work from home to do so and have more flexibility with their time. There are not many 9 - 5 jobs that offer the opportunities Affiliate Marketing does. Remember; if you're an advertiser marketing affiliate products on your website, choose your affiliate programs wisely. Sometimes it isn't as wise to select the most popular affiliate program as they could be over advertised (or saturated). You can find less popular affiliate programs in a similar market as those that are on every shelf so to speak. Doing your own review of your affiliate products is a good idea because it not only gives consumers some incite but it could also build your credibility.
