A common mistake among many people is the overuse of links on their websites. If you don't know, more links are not better. To find out why might be helpful for understanding this dilemma. It seems like it would be good to have as many links as possible, but this doesn't work the way that you would want it too. You are adding links in the first place so that the search engine spiders will pay attention. When you have too many they will actually pay a lesser amount of attention. It is better if instead of piling on the links if you have just a couple of authoritative links. They will be much better for boosting your website ranking. For those sites that do have a whole bunch of links it causes the spiders to sort of spread out their attention in different directions and that loses the desired effect. If you are concerned with the experience that people have with your website then you have to keep that in mind when you are adding links. When there are too many it is extremely distracting. You will have people that go to your site for information or shopping that will become distracted by all the links and they will end up bopping from website to website. This is really annoying for the persons that want to use your site and they keep getting sent off because of the links. It can be so bad that people will go to another website to get the info that they are after. When you are building your site you really need to understand that there are other ways that you can raise your rank besides using links. Often times these are used because it is all that people know. You do need some links but you need good content more. The content has to be of good quality and it has to be relevant to what your site is all about. The content also has to be keyword rich. That is what really grabs the attention of those search engine spiders and makes them pay attention. If you do want to have regular fans of your website, you have to slow down with all the extraneous linking. People are tired of fighting their way through websites that have content that is full of annoying links. Good links that people will actually find helpful is what you need.
