Tenerife, a beautiful Spanish island, is the biggest island of the seven Canary Islands located in the Atlantic Ocean off the shores of Africa. Like the rest of Canary Islands, it is also a son of Pluton. Fondly called as the "Island of the Eternal Spring," it shows off a balanced climate and rich vegetation in the North. But what should a traveler expect out of Tenerife holidays?
To help you out in planning your Tenerife holidays, below are some of the festivals that a traveler should watch out for.
Main Festivals
Tenerife boasts of a number of exciting festivals around the island, such as Carnivals, Corpus Christi, Nuestra Senora de La Candelaria, and San Andres. Carnivals are celebrated in the month of February, and are regarded as the most significant celebrations within Tenerife, especially in Santa Cruz capital. Corpus Christi, a celebration of carpets of flowers, happens in June. Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria occurs in the month of August, and is the celebration of Candelaria's patron saint. San Andres in November is a new wine tasting event.
Cultural Events
For cultural events, there are three major festivities that every traveler should take hold of. These are the Music Festival of the Canary Islands, Opera Season, and Sabandeño Festival. Music Festival of the Canary Islands is one of the well-known European classical music events, displaying the best orchestras and performers during the month of June. The Opera Season is an event that happens in October, November, and December, and is organized by the Tenerife Association of Friends of the Opera. Sabandeño Festival, on the other hand, is a Folklore Music Festival in September during the festivities of Christ.
Stunning Beaches and Other Tourist Attractions
If you are fond of the beach, take a trip down the beaches of Jardin Beach, Martianez Beach, Teresitas Beach, Roque Beach, and Nudist Beach, among many other beach attractions in the island. However, if you are feeling more daring and would like to see the depths of the sea, you can go snorkeling, or even scuba diving in Corralejo that boasts of a diversified marine life. Tenerife is also great for surfing and windsurfing all throughout the year.
Golf buffs would not want to miss out the superb Tenerife climate for a relaxing play at the golf clubs, such as Golf Del Sur, Golf Club Real, Los Palos Golf, Playa Las Americas, Golf Adeje, and Amarilla Golf – all found in the North and South of Tenerife.
The Pirámides de Güímar Ethnographic Park is also a must-see vacation spot in Tenerife, which gathered a whopping investment of beyond six million Euros, while the La Recova Arts Center is a significant cultural center in the island worth visiting as well.
Taking your exceptional Tenerife holidays is easy, though, as it always reachable by land, sea, and plane depending on your point of origin. But, just the same, whether you are taking a short ride or a long flight, your ultimate vacation in the Island of Tenerife is sure to last a lifetime
