Are you a long distance lorry driver, delivery driver, chauffer, or taxi driver? If you are you may be interested in Motorola's new handset. The Motorola M990 Smart Rider is a mobile phone aimed at the road warrior market! The M990 is also a GPS based sat nav system, and boasts an advanced voice recognition system allowing you to activate handset controls as well as voice dialling. It also features Bluetooth, an email client and web browser including EDGE data support, MP3 player and comes complete with a 2GB mircro SD card. It can be programmed with up to four user profiles, a useful application if more than one person is going to be using the Smart Rider. The M990 is designed to be installed into your vehicle of choice, and is connected to all its other components (eg. speaker, antenna, microphone etc.) via an octopus cable, so it is likely that it will need to be installed by a professional. It's a pretty hefty device measuring 137mm x 85mm, and weighing in at 400 grams, with a large 2.8" 320 x 240 pixel display screen, so you are not likely to want to carry this beast around with you! But you can detach it from the cable, allowing you to remove it from your car should you need/want too. This is one reason why it is aimed at professional drivers that spend most of their time in the car, rather than business customers or consumers. The M990 should be available from June 2008.
