Interop 2008 marks the debut of the new modular SmartRack 116 & 116IP Jerusalem, Israel - Minicom Advanced Systems, a leading developer of KVM switch and extension technology, is unveiling its new modular KVM switch/drawer console, the SmartRack 116 & 116IP, at this year's Interop in Las Vegas, NV April 29th - May 1st. The new SmartRack units allow for centralized control of up to 16 computers from one 1U rack station. The new SmartRack series is designed as a modular system, allowing for user upgrades without replacing the whole rack unit, and come standard with 17" TFT LCD screens. The first two modules to be introduced will be the Smart 116, for standard local analog switching, and the Smart 116IP, adding remote access. Persons buying the SmartRack 116 can easily upgrade to newer switches, or IP enabled switches, by replacing only the switch module, not the whole rack station. The SmartRack 116IP is KVM.net enabled, Minicom's revolutionary IP KVM management suite. The SmartRack 116 & 116IP units conveniently slide into only 1U of rack space, saving on the total cost of ownership of server rooms by freeing up more U space for other servers or devices. The SmartRack 116 & 116IP utilize Minicom's innovative ROC technology. The ROC, or RICC on Cable, allows for easy attachment of servers to the switch over standard CAT5 cable at distances up to 100ft/30m. Benny Hayumi, Product Manager for the SmartRack series, explains the market demands which led to the development of this new solution. "This is ideal for those who need a unified solution. Most server racks require users to separately purchase the LCD drawer and KVM switch. Why buy two units separately, that may or may not be compatible, when you can buy both together from a single manufacturer ensuring their compatibility?" Both the Smart Rack 116 and Smart Rack 116 IP will begin shipping in June.
