One of the greatest ordeals that can be faced in marriage is divorce. Your whole world fell apart the moment your husband said that he wants a divorce. How are you going to live your life without him? How would your children grow up without a father? Why does he want a divorce? Where did you fall short? The questions seem to be endless; you start blaming yourself and recollect your shortcomings. Is separation and divorce what he really wants? How can you save your marriage?
Saving a marriage has to come from you and your husband. However, if it seems that your husband is determined in pursuing the divorce, there are still ways to stop separation and divorce. You are going to initiate them off yourself and in time, your husband will agree with you in your desire to make the marriage work.
Here are ways to stop separation and divorce:
1. Do not beg or cling to your husband. You have to agree that you did beg him to change his mind when he said he wants to to file a divorce. It is a natural reaction coming from women who want to protect their families. Nonetheless, the situation calls you to do otherwise. You must just willingly accept his decision. Do not promise him that you will change if you do not want to appear like everything was your fault. Politely accept his decision and play cold war with him. It is best to keep him guessing. Act like you can be happy with your even without him around.
2. Agree with your husband. His reasons for leaving may be the most ludicrous reasons you have ever heard, but you have to agree with all of them. If he says that you have not done your obligations as a wife, simply agree. Do not argue against his statements and defend yourself. Your opposing your husband will only show that you are guilty of his accusations. This is a tough strategy so you have to practice each time to perfect the skill.
3. Surprise your husband. Face it, separation and divorce are sometimes caused by lack of passion. If you have been too focused on your career or your taking care of the children, you may have given him the wrong notion that you are no longer a wife, you are just a mother. Tease and surprise your husband by taking good care of yourself and spicing up his desires. Be more attractive; show him the old person he fell in love with.
4. Get to the bottom of the problem. Somewhere between the talks, you must know what caused him to be detached from you. Why does he want to divorce you? Is another woman involved in the separation and divorce? You can only create actionable plans if you do know what caused him to want to leave you. Talk to your husband about your marital issues and agree to solve them with each other's help.
