Trivia is a collection of superficial information. Football trivia deals with football related trivial information. Fans love to collect trivia about their favorite sports or stars. Here are some interesting football trivia: 1. 265 million footballers exist worldwide and about 90% of them are men. 2. A top player has 10% risk of injury during a game after a week of training. 3. An average premier league club has a yearly profit equal to a supermarket branch. They are not as rich as you might think. 4. Teams that go into first penalty shoot out win 60% of the time. 5. Most European countries see a decline in the suicide rate when football matches are on. 6. English players wore their names on the back of their shirts for the first time during the year 1992 European Championships in Sweden. 7. At the age of 38 years and 2 months, Leslie Compton became the oldest player to debut for England when he played against Wales in year 1950-51. 8. Tommy Lawton of Chelsea holds the record for the fastest goal by an English player. He scored a goal in 17 seconds in England's match against Portugal in year 1947. 9. Alan Murray of Spurs was the first English player to be shown a red card in an international match. This happened during a match between England and Yugoslavia. 10. The first international football match that didn't involve a British team was played between the United States of America and Canada. Canada won the match, 1-0. 11. England played their first game on foreign soil in Austria against the hosts. They beat Austria, 1-0. 12. For the first time in year 1956, the Home International Championship finished in a 4-way draw with each of the four teams having 3 points each. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
