Photo Recovery becomes essential when pictures have been lost or deleted due to some reason. People are always worried that photos stored on the computer could get lost due to unforeseen errors. Taking a back-up is always the best precaution. But when images are stored on any external drive, we seldom think of taking back-ups.

MiniDiscs are magneto-optical storage devices which were originally designed to store a large number of audio files. Sony has developed the Hi-MD which also allows storage of photos (and other data) along with audio on it. This made storing pictures off the computer far easier as well as more compact, since the MiniDisc is smaller in size than CDs, DVDs, etc. The most promising part of any external disk is that data stored on it is safe from computer viruses and other such problems. But even these drives are not disaster-free.

Picture a scenario where you have been saving photos on your MiniDisc and one day you accidentally delete all the images. Since you stored it on an external device, you haven't gotten a back-up.

When we take images on any external device, it has become human tendency to think that they are safe. At such times one seldom thinks that anything can go wrong with the images on the MiniDisc. This is the reason very few people take back-ups of the data stored on such devices.

Accidental deletions are very common. The most common reason is using "Shift" while deleting items or emptying the 'recycle bin' on Windows and emptying the 'trash' in Mac.

Whenever photographs are lost or deleted, the file system only marks them as deleted. Those who know of this process often think it applies only to the computer system. This in reality is applicable to MiniDiscs as well. Like a computer, a MiniDisc too uses a file system where data is stored. This data when deleted by us (even permanently), is only marked as deleted. You can use a Photo Recovery Software to salvage them. These tools Recover Photos by scanning the hard disk for the same.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery is a Photo Recovery Software. The tool has a simple GUI allowing anyone to use it to salvage data safely and efficiently. It can retrieve lost photos from MiniDiscs, SD Cards, MMC Cards, Flash drives, etc. It supports JPEG, GIF, TIFF, AVI, MOV, etc file formats.
