We were discussing over the tips
for smooth functioning of your personal
computer. It's not possible to discuss everything at one go, this is the
next part of our previous article, explaining other important tricks of PC
Care:
- Registry Cleaning - In windows operating system based computers system
configuration information is centrally located in the registry. While this
simplifies the administration of a computer or network, one incorrect edit
or unwanted entry to the registry can disable the operating system. Registry
Editor (regedit) enables you to
inspect and modify the registry entries, but you are advised to stay away
from such modifications. It's better to use a third party automated tool
for automatic cleaning of registry.
- Removing Unwanted Startup Programs
- When we install some software or tools, a few of them installs
themselves on System Startup, which makes system booting a slow process. You
can remove those unnecessary startup programs through Windows Configuration Utility. Using
this utility is very easy, follow these simple steps:
- Go to
Run Menu (Press Window Key + R)
- Type msconfig and Press Enter/return
Key
- You'll
see Windows Configuration Utility Window
- Go to
the Start Up tab and uncheck the items which you do not want to invoke at
startup.
- Virus Checking - Sometimes slow
functioning of system is result of virus infections, or it may be due to malicious
worms, and Trojans which uses system resources and causes slow
functioning. The solution of this problem is to use an Antivirus program like
Norton Antivirus, McAfee or AVG
Antivirus, all of them provides facility of auto update of its virus
definitions. For home use it's not mandatory to use a licensed copy of
Antivirus. You can try free versions of Antivirus programs like AVG which
are capable of providing perfect security
against all virus threats. Regular update of virus definitions ensures
protection from latest viruses.
- Configuration Issues - Another
reason of slow functioning of your personal
computer can be old or out of date configuration. It can be if you
have a few years old computer and you are running latest software, in that
case it's better to check the RAM and Processor of system. Most of the
time just RAM upgrade can solve all issues, processor change is not required.
If you really take care of above
given tips, I assure you'll have a fast and smooth function PC causing fun, and
