The offshore outsourcing industry has been hot over the past year. While some spheres succumbed to the global economic meltdown and declined, there were other spheres like Information Technology, that were quoted to be the saviors against the recession stricken corporate environment. And the year 2010 promises to be yet another eventful year. Here are some trends that will dominate the IT offshore outsourcing industry in the coming times, as per IDC: Maturity of Cloud Computing Cloud computing will make it big in 2010 and will come to include business continuity and disaster recovery. Businesses that are all set to venture into hiring cloud computing services will require cloud computing SLAs that have such capabilities. Business Analytics for Better Business Business analytics will play an important role in 2010 as it will evolve into a key technological area that helps CIOs to manage costs, comply with regulations and expand their business. This is because data will come to be treated as a strategic asset within companies. Businesses are increasingly implementing more advanced and sophisticated forms of analytics solutions in the region. Adoption of Social Media by Businesses Social media has grown exponentially in the past year and businesses can no longer afford to ignore it. In 2010, more and more businesses will adopt social media and use it as a critical business tool to increase their brand awareness in the market, market their products and services and establish and maintain strong customer relationships. Converged Fabric and the Evolving Data Center Converged Fabric (a consolidated high-performance computing system that consists of loosely coupled storage, networking and parallel processing functions linked by high bandwidth) in 2010, converged fabric solutions can be the solution to the overly-high maintenance problems of business data centers. The global economic tumult has increased the need to pare cost in datacenter management, and maintenance will be one of the most powerful motivators for the demand of converged fabric. From SaaS to KaaS Software-as-a-service(Saas) will give way to Knowledge-as-a-service(KaaS) in the coming times. Service providers will face increased pressure to provide original, licensed IT solutions that are embedded with industry or process-specific IP. Increase in Number of Smart Phones Users In the coming year, India and China will witness a massive increase in the number of smart phone users. This is primely because of the increasing sophistication of mobile users. Enterprise Appliance dawns Last year there were many product launches that influenced the way vendors provided hardware solutions. And in the coming times, hardware suppliers will continue to provide dedicated, pre-configured hardware and storage for specific applications and workloads for enterprises. Reviewing Chargeback for IT Even though the ability to effectively provide chargeback functionality already exists at many levels for Desktop, storage, and certain applications, the full benefits of Chargeback 3.0 are yet to be developed and understood by the business owners. And this will be something that will be seen in 2010. Intelligent Initiatives to rise in Asia The Asian governments will be working in sync with ICT suppliers and service providers as well as citizens to make inroads for foreign investors and technology in their respective regions, competing with one another to secure gains and profits. Rise of Machine to Machine 2010 will offer grand opportunities for M2M (Machine to Machine) devices that will connect the public and operator networks in the coming years.
