A travel nurse RN can find many job openings in this field if they are willing to travel to different job sites where nurses are needed. More health care today is provided by qualified nurses instead of doctors, although nurses always work under the supervision of a doctor. If a nurse has any question about a diagnosis, they can refer to the doctor for their questions. A travel nurse job will allow the nurse to administer certain drugs and provide certain care for patients who might not have to see a doctor for their ailments. This can save patients money, especially those who do not have insurance and who are looking for health care. One place that a travel nurse RN might work is a clinic. There are many clinics located throughout the country today that employ registered nurses to care for patients. The price of these clinics for care is nominal compared to the cost that a patient would have to spend if they went to see a doctor. A travel nurse RN can go to these clinics and administer shots for people who need inoculations, which is one of the main components of the job. A nurse can also diagnose minor ailments and conditions that require care, but not necessarily the care of a physician. They can refer the right patients to a doctor if needed. In the case of clinics, there are often nurses on duty to give out prescriptions for antibiotics for patients who may present with infections and not really need to see a doctor. A travel nurse RN is qualified to dispense this type of medication. In other cases, a travel nurse job may send a nurse to a place where free inoculations for school children and others are being administered through the county. This is very common practice in most counties and a RN is qualified to perform this type of vaccination. This insures that those who need vaccinations for school or other means can get them. The Swine Flu was a major scare for most people in the United States, as is the regular flu. There are various clinics located in pharmacies that offer flu shots every year. These shots are provided by those who have a travel nurse job. The travel nurse RN will go from pharmacy to pharmacy to give out these vaccinations to patients who need them. They will travel to different pharmacies and offer the shots on certain days to patients but are not on call all of the time for the shots. Giving out shots for patients as well as providing routine medical care is part of the job for a travel nurse RN. A travel nurse job enables a nurse to go do different facilities to care for patients who might not otherwise be able to get the care that they need because of lack of insurance or the money to pay for a doctor visit.
