A travel nurse works not in one place, but in many different places although they may be employed by one company or entity. A registered nurse can provide medical care similar to a doctor and even prescribe certain medications. Nurse traveling is making a large comeback as there is an increase in need when it comes to medical care in the United States. Despite the fact that many people have insurance, there are a great deal of those who do not have insurance in the United States. Nurse traveling can alleviate costs for those who do not have the money or the time to wait for an appointment for a doctor. There are some cases where people who have infections are waiting weeks or even months to get an appointment with a doctor. Because of this, there is an influx of people going to the emergency rooms of hospitals to get care. Emergency rooms are seeing an influx of parents who bring children in with ear infections, throat infections and other cases that can be seen by nurses and treated with antibiotics. However, many people do not realize that a travel nurse may be available at a nearby clinic. Nurse traveling used to entail nurses who went to houses to care for patients who were housebound as well as to rural areas where there were no doctors to care for patients. In recent years, however, a travel nurse is seen more often at clinics that are opening up all over the country, not in rural or urban areas only, but in suburbs where immediate care is needed. This type of care is very useful for parents who may have a sick child who is in need of an antibiotic and can be treated by a travel nurse who works at the clinic. Nurse traveling usually is employed by these clinics who will have a nurse on duty at the clinic so that patients do not have to go to the ER for care, but can come right to the pharmacy. This can be a way for people who may have minor ailments, such as cuts and infections, to get the health care that they need without incurring the cost or the wait that they would incur if they decided to go to the ER. As the waiting time to see a doctor increases, there is more of a need for nurse traveling for clinics. Many clinics across the country will employ a travel nurse, who is a registered nurse and who can see to patients, make a diagnosis and also provide them with some treatment options, including antibiotics. Those who have infections where they need antibiotics can see a travel nurse at a clinic that employs nurse traveling and get the care that they need without having to wait for an appointment for a doctor or have to resort to going to the emergency room of a hospital where they can expect the wait to be a lot longer than if they go to a clinic that employs a registered nurse who can care for them and get them what they need to cure their problem.
