Supply chain management is a complex process because it is embedded with multiple supply chain processes and involves multiple customers and multiple suppliers. When supply chain management process is not managed well, the following problems will arise.
Companies need to manage supply chains and suppliers by using technology and processes in order to drive operational efficiencies across the supply chain from suppliers through to customers. Supply chain solutions should be able to enhance the company's competitive advantage, market positioning, cycle time and, generate capital required for inventory and other applications, service, revenue, profitability and growth. By using SCM solutions for their internal processes, companies and industries can break the cycle of inefficiency that limits their profits, growth and return. Choosing an experienced player in the field of logistics and supply chain solutions is critical to benefit from the solutions offered. Supply chain solutions partner must be able to provide for improved flexibility and reduced risk. They should be able to provide with on-demand product configuration in close proximity to the distribution channels. This will in turn help to reduce manufacturing costs, lead-time and inventory overhead for the company. The service partners must be able to improve productivity, add cost reductions and deliver faster time to market; and this is possible only when the partner is able to deliver world-class supply chain solutions. Eventually, the supply chain partner's ethical and reliable operations should be able to provide complete control of day to day operations and also provide the necessary competitive advantage for the company's products.
