Advancement in technology has added value to the performance and quality of the spray booths. The air-paint aerosol is automatically made and pumped into the spray booth. The surplus is sucked out. The surplus heat from the baking cycle is recycled and utilized. Increasing use is made of robotics and total automation. Energy efficient motors and lighting fixtures cut down on the power bill and all waste products and effluents are treated before discharging them to meet stringent environment standards. These are the basic requirements that are met in the various kinds of spray booths that are:

1 Industrial spray booths

2 Automotive spray booths and

3 Truck spray booths.

Industrial spray booths are further categorized into airplane booths and production tunnels. The airplane booths can paint aircraft starting with a 2-seat airplane to the Boeing Jumbo airplane! They have been used to paint the USAF fighter aircraft as well. Today's industrial production tunnels are robotized. The surface preparation having been completed the articles are washed and dried and loaded on the conveyor belt through the spray or the powder coating booth before being cured in a fully automatic conveyor oven. The conveyor oven can operate in different environments and can be designed to customer specifications.

The automotive spray booths come in the premier variety and the specially insulated version besides variants that depend on the direction of airflow and the location of exhaust plenums. The premier variant has:

1 Full ceiling air intake

2 Exhaust system under the central floor

3 Three fold doors for extra floor space

4 An excellent lighting system

5 Insulated panels and double walls that are white powder coated to improve maintainability and insulation

6 Direct fired heat and recirculating air make-up system for greater fuel economy

7 In the auto front flow, the doors are in the front and the exhaust plenums in the rear

8 In the auto reverse flow there are standard barn type doors in the front and intake filters at the rear.

9 There are auto exhaust side down draft, power semi down draft and full down draft varieties that depend on the air exit pattern.
