The cutthroat competition in the market increases everyday as the onslaught of new products emerges. Both old and new products clamor for an audience that will patronize them. Such that, a lot of means have been used to directly introduce and reacquaint such products, one of which are postcards. The good old postcard, popular as a traveler's souvenir, is one of the many print materials used for marketing. Yes, it seems that in this day and age, even the postcard can be reinvented. The postcard has become a marketing tool in this contemporary age where it directly communicates to its audience through direct mail marketing. Postcards, like any medium, can be made to be outlandish or simple. It can be as bold and aggressive and still retain its subtlety. Monochromatic, given the word, pertains to a single color wherein its varying tones are used to indicate the dark and light spots in the design. Monochromatic postcards are exciting and interesting to look at. Imagine a full block of color on a postcard, surely it'll get your attention. However, it may hinder the design from fully communicating its moods, ideas, concepts using monochromatic. Other than this, monochromatic wouldn't do much good to improve brand recall or for readers to easily remember your product. The use of monochromatic color would fail to give your audience or recipients an accurate or actual image of your product. Multicolor postcards work wonderfully. The bursts of colors can instantly command attention and engage the recipient's interest further. Research solidified the strength of the use of colors. They've shown that indeed there is a causal relationship between people and colors. It is because colors can evoke certain responses and initiate a reaction, consciously or unconsciously. For example, colors like blues and greens are known to have a calming effect, while black and reds tend to signify a strong and lively emotion. Such that, these colors can play an effective and very suggestive role in postcard designs.
