Home Based Business: Five Qualities/Skills You Need To Be Successful
Written by BraveHeart Woman

First and foremost, remember your success relies on you. The following qualities and skills are necessary to become successful in this industry. If you are lacking in any of these, work hard to overcome them and learn to acquire these qualities and skills. 1. Be Coachable: Follow your company's system. Do not try to reinvent the wheel. Your company most likely has a proven system that works. Study, practice and rehearse that system. It has been developed for you to follow and use. Listen to your upline. They have been down this path before you, and they know what works and does not work. Your upline is there for guidance and direction. Look at those who are successful in your company. What are they doing that makes them successful? Be coachable! Begin to follow their example and lead. 2. Persistence: In this business, one has to be determined and never give up. How many of you have heard the word NO all too many times? We all have. Don't take the NO's personally. They may not want or need the product or the business, but it is not about you. Get used to hearing the word NO; it will only make you stronger and more persistent. Turn that no into a positive and a way to ask for a referral. You might say, "I understand that this may not be for you at this time, but my business is built on referrals. Could you refer three people to me who may be interested in the business or the products?" 3. Personal Development: Personal development is essential for anyone to in this business. Read at least 10 pages a day in any personal development book. Your company / upline has a list they recommend. Listen to an audio CD for at least 20 - 30 minutes a day. Do this while you are driving in your car going to work, picking up the children or running errands. Your company may have training CD's available. Attend a live training conference or self-development seminar for your company at least twice a year. 4. Activity: How many of you have thought you've found the perfect person to join your business? They have all the skills necessary for this business. They are willing to invest in the business. They present a good first impression. They come into the business with all good intentions, but as time goes on they do nothing. Like most of us have done in the past, you probably spend your time prodding, coaxing, inviting and calling to get them jump-started. You need to let them go. The only thing you can control is you! Don't blame your team if they are not doing anything. If you want your team to get into activity and momentum then you must get into activity. Begin to focus and work with those in your downline who are coachable and in activity. As a leader, you may need to go down 2 or 3 levels and this may cause others to become fired up. Remember keep looking for that ace. 5. Don't Be Attached to the Outcome: This may be the most difficult thing to overcome in this business. Do not become personally attached or involved in the outcome. Focus on the activity portion of the business. If prospects choose to not join your business, let them go and be OK with that choice. There will be others who will see your vision and theirs. The sooner you move on the better off your business will be. Thinking and agonizing why someone did not join your business will only slow your activity and momentum down.
