An Entrepreneurial Journey

I used to work in the corporate environment and one day I realized that my life was going to be over in the blink of an eye, and I thought for what? Each morning I would get out of bed dreading my day only to come home in the evening and have just a few hours to myself. The weekends didn't seem to come fast enough and two days didn't really allow me the time to live my life. Instead I felt as though I was living my life for someone else. I was working to fulfill someone else's dream. My first step was to change careers and become a massage therapist. For the past 5 years I have absolutely loved the work that I do. There isn't a dollar value large enough that can compare to the feeling you get by making someone feel better with your own two hands. However, massage therapy isn't exactly a lucrative business and in that profession I don't see myself being able to retire comfortably, if at all. So, in the early days of 2007 I decided this year was going to be a year of change. I literally stumbled upon a home based business opportunity by accident. One day I was sitting at home with the sniffles going through my junk e-mail folder. Number 1 I never get sick and number 2 I never read my junk mail. In that folder I read about an opportunity. Annette, a lady who also lives in Idaho contacted me and introduced the system to me. The further I explored the more excited I became and I decided to take out a loan to start my business. Already self employed, I was repeatedly turned down because I write everything off on my taxes so it appeared as though I didn't make any money. However, I had the attitude that if this is meant to be then I will get a loan. One day I was sitting in a chair waiting for another "loan guy" to call and let me know if I was either approved or unapproved for a loan. At this point I decided to employ what I had learned by watching "The Secret". As I sat in the chair I closed my eyes and imagined the check already in my hands. I imagined how I would feel inside if I were holding it. A few moments later the loan guy called to tell me that I was approved for twice what I had requested. Although I was stunned, I knew this was something I am supposed to do. Over the next few months I've been pulled, twisted, and pushed into the form of a new person that I am so excited to become. Looking back, I feel as though I'm almost a completely different person, a better person. The further I explore this industry and myself I absolutely know without a shadow of a doubt that this is where I am supposed to be. Not only do the articles I read inspire me, but also listening to so many others share their story and their reasons for being a part of this industry. I've never met so many people with a pay it forward mentality, who are acting to better the lives of those around them. It's something that I never encountered in corporate America. In my mind I can relate it to massage. Each of us employs our skills and talents to help better the lives of others so that they may have the same opportunities and freedoms we get to enjoy. I feel truly blessed to be one of the fortunate individuals who gets to explore all this industry has to offer.
