In essence, customers drive the business. Without customers, business would not exist. But some companies seem to have forgotten this little tidbit of information. This is apparent due to the way the majority of businesses treat their customers—with contempt, disrespect, and so on. By catering to happy customers, those happy customers will respond through loyalty to your company and let's hope they will let others know through word of mouth how great they were treated. Either way, whether you treat them bad or good, the word will get around. Here are some quick ways to improve the moods of your customers and their satisfaction with your company.

  • Have More: By having more customer service representatives, the wait will be shorter. And the shorter the wait, the happier the customer will be. The happier the customer is, the better your company will flourish. Then everyone will be happy, right?
  • Get Creative: Not only should you have more people answering the phones, but you should have a more entertaining on hold recording. Sometimes your budget is small and you can't have so many representatives that no one would ever have to wait on hold. But by having a creative on hold message, your customers will be entertained...and let's hope, less angry once they begin to speak with a real person.
  • Monthly Prizes: Everyone loves winning something. Holding a monthly or annual prize drawing for current customers would help them want to stay around longer and therefore, increase your profits.
  • Discounts: Many people will respond to having preferred customer discounts. Consider this.

These are just a few ideas. The main thing is that you have your customers in mind and get creative.
