If you are looking for Missouri truck driving jobs, you have several options. A few of those options include working for a truck driving company, a retail store, or becoming an owner operator.

Missouri Truck Driving Companies
These companies specialize in one of two things—long haul (regional) or local truck driving. Long haul truck driving jobs are found throughout the entire state of Missouri. Kansas City, in western Missouri, is a gateway to the western United States. St. Louis, in eastern Missouri, is a gateway to the eastern United States.

Long haul truck drivers working out of Kansas City make runs to Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, and beyond. Long haul truck drivers in St. Louis may pick up and deliver items in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the East Coast.

If you are interested in finding jobs that deliver within the state of Missouri only, you might start your search near your home, and expand your search from there.

Retail Stores
Because of its central location in the United States, several retail companies have warehouses in the state of Missouri. Truck drivers pick up items at the retailer's warehouse and then deliver them to retail locations throughout the region.

Owner Operator
Some truck drivers want to work for themselves. You want to make sure that it makes sense for you to do so before you drop your current job. Before you become an owner operator, you need to purchase, or at least lease, your own big rig. A tractor and trailer cost over $140,000. A lot of your net pay will go toward paying off your tractor and trailer. Other costs include taxes, permits, insurance, maintenance of vehicles, etc. You will want to research this information before starting your own business.

Small business classes are often offered by communities, universities, and companies. You may want to take a course or two in order to decide whether owning your own business is what you really want to do.

No matter what job you would like to obtain, you will want to get all of the quality training that you can. Quality training includes learning how to drive the truck effectively, learning how to keep accurate records, and more.

The world of truck driving has something to offer for anyone who enjoys being out on the road, and the satisfaction of having a great deal of control over their day and their future.
