It's a difficult time to be unemployed. The economic recession has caused many businesses in cities across the UK - even some of the most formidable - to downsize, drop staff and even liquidate and claim bankruptcy. As such, many people will be on the hunt for Bristol jobs - so how can you ensure you're at the top of the pack?
There are a variety of ways which, combined, can really help you get ahead. So what are they?
First of all, you'll need to update your CV. The CV is often the first thing a prospective employer hears about you and it is essential to present yourself as a desirable candidate for the job. Not only should you bring your CV up to speed regarding your past jobs, education and personal information but you should also strive to give it the edge that employers will remember.
Don't forget that we're all human - use this to your advantage when writing about your interests. It doesn't have to be completely mechanical. If you enjoy bad comedy movies, write it down. It indicates a sense of humour, as well as passing over the idea that you are an honest person.
For the finishing touches to your CV, make it aesthetically pleasing. That doesn't mean overloading fancy fonts and tiny print down - the smallest size should be 10, the largest 12 - but you can do a lot with bullet points and placing the text on different parts of the page.
Once your CV's ready, start firing it out. Hand it in to businesses you'd like to work at and check out the wealth of opportunities on the internet. There is a plethora of websites out there dedicated to helping you find your perfect job - so use them. Bear in mind that prospective employers enjoy the sensation of having your full attention, so be sure to tailor your cover letters directly to the company and purpose of the job you're applying for.
It's a wise move to edit your CV in accordance with this too - for more general jobs, some prefer education first. For specific appointments, it could be best to put your experience first, or mix it up by putting university education followed by relevant experience, then inserting high school grades and previous jobs.
Of course, many Bristol companies may be belt-tightening to hold its ground against the recession, but it is still possible to find jobs in Bristol. Just be prepared to work for the chance to work - and you could find yourself employed sooner rather than too late. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
