Using Solar Cells for Solar Power Generation

Although the sun is many million kilometers away it is amazingly powerful and useful to human life. Even a tiny fraction of the Sun's energy that hits the Earth is perfectly enough to meet all human power needs. But the key lies in harnessing the energy properly.

Advantages

The primary advantages of solar power are:

1. Solar energy is absolutely free. There is no need for fuel here and it produces no waste or pollution.

2. Solar power can be effectively used where there is no way to get electricity to a remote place.

3. Solar power is handy for low-power uses such as solar powered garden lights and battery chargers.

4. Solar power largely helps to reduce home energy bills.

5. Solar power can be used for water heating purposes also. This helps to lower usage of heating systems, and cuts the fuel bills tremendously.

6. Solar furnaces are basically huge "solar cookers", which can cook fast and easily. Solar cookers are available in countries like UK to cook food.

Using Solar Cells

Solar cells which are called "photovoltaic", "PV" or "photoelectric" cells convert light directly into electricity. The solar panel can produce enough power to run a 100W light bulb from just one square meter of solar panel.

Solar photovoltaic arrays have tremendous potential to alter the economics and environmental impact of electrical power generation. However, despite large innovation in the technology of photovoltaic modules, the system design has remained largely unchanged for over a decade.

Parallel Solar architecture systems address the many challenges in deriving solar power. Using simple converter modules, each panel becomes a fully independent, highly efficient contributor of power to the array - just like a power plant on a grid.

Using such systems, installers can improve their expected output and payback in a short span of time at reduced solar system cost.
