Any thing that desires packaging needs to be labeled. The labeling machine is required for this process. This consists of a label dispenser and a label applicator. The label dispenser dispenses or supplies labels that are moderately peeled off from the webbing. The label applicator applies the label to the object that has to be labeled. Both these processes can be done by manual, semi-automatic and automatic labeling machines.

The most important use of label dispensers is that it helps in reducing labor costs. Operator exhaustion can be done away with. There will be lesser number of labels wasted. It is simple to use and requires little maintenance.

You have three types of dispensers - manual, semi automatic and electric. They are available in different widths for different types of applications that can be used in different working places.

The manual label dispenser is used manually and is a light duty machine. It is used to peel off the backing paper, which is lighter than the label, and apply the label at the appropriate place on the packaging. This can only be done when the volume to be handled is very small. The label can be made of paper, vinyl or even polyester for a wall mount or a table top.

The semi automatic label dispenser is used for labels with multiple rows. In this machine, instead of manually pulling off the backing sheet, a trigger, normally a foot-switch is used. This detects the non-appearance of the label. Then it gives out the label. This is good for use in industries. This can be used for bulk mailing. These dispensers save time, avoid machine down time, and give high production. They are user friendly and are not affected by voltage fluctuations. The various parts of the semi automatic dispenser need not be changed.

A simple electric label dispenser is used when the volume of packaging is large. This removes the backing paper the sheets. You can have normal speed and high speed electric dispensers. It uses continuous feed sheets. You can get a wide range of narrow design electric label dispenser solution. It is good for a cleaner working environment. They are easy to operate and are not costly. They do not consume much power. They need a conveyor a head and an integrated control system.

Any of these methods of label dispensers can be used to apply labels to cartons, food packages, chemical drums, mechanical device, bottles, cosmetics, electronic, health care, agriculture, pesticide, pharmaceutical products etc. They can also be used in places where primary labels are used like, bar code, holograms, security, plain paper sticker and self adhesive labels.

Wherever a small number of things have to be labeled, manual label dispensers can be used. As the volume increase, semi automatic and electric label dispensers should be used. Each of these has its own advantages and disadvantages. All these different types are generally light weight and portable. Even the electric label dispenser does not consume much power. The biggest advantage is that it saves time and worker fatigue as labeling is a time consuming, repetitive job.

It is good to know your requirements, do a little bit of research and find out about the latest in the market. You also need to keep in mind the price of the machine. The best place to obtain information would be the internet.
