- A
family that plays together stays together.
Try to plan fun activities that you can do together as a
family. Whether you're going to a
baseball game, taking a walk to the pond and feeding the ducks, or playing
a board game, your kids will remember the feelings of fun and excitement and
will be more likely to want to join in on the next activity.
- Eat
dinner as a family. Studies show
that families who eat dinner together achieve better communication and
build stronger relationships, children do better in school and are better
adjusted as teens and adults, and the entire family enjoys better
nutrition.
- Work
together. Working fosters a sense
of accomplishment and unity within the family. Assign each member of your
family certain chores and designate a given time for working
together. When everyone is working
together the work gets done faster and then everyone can play sooner.
- Set
aside one night of the week for family night. When kids are flying a million and one
different directions, having one night set aside for games, lessons, songs
and treats allows for their to be teaching in the home as well as fun for
everyone involved.
- Take a
family portrait. We had our Salt Lake family portrait photographer
take us out to the most beautiful wooded setting and take a beautiful
portrait that is now hanging on our wall at home. When the kids walk by it I see them look
at it and smile as they know that they are part of a family who loves
them.
- Plan daddy-daughter,
mother daughter, father-son and mother-son dates. Setting aside this one-on-one time with
your children is important because it shows them that you love them.
