Used cars can be found in many different places. The buyer really is blessed with a great deal of choice when on the hunt for their next bargain. Some people choose to only go down one route, however taking a rounded approach and looking at a variety of different sources will put you in a better position to spot the bargain you are dreaming of. One key element to buying used cars that has grown in strength over the last ten years is of course the internet. Searching on the internet gives the buyer a much larger scale for their search, but it is important that this isn't seen as the only option. The ‘old fashioned' methods of looking around used car dealerships and flicking through the local ads can still turn up a gem or two. This article discusses the various sources of used cars available to the modern buyer. Local Ads Taking a trip down to the local shop and collecting various local ads, and free newspapers is perhaps the ‘old school' method of looking for second hand cars. This used to be the first port of call for anyone looking for a used car, and there is no reason that this shouldn't still be the case. The benefits to doing this is that the car in question should never be too far away and this means a test drive and viewing should be easy to arrange. There is also no substitute for getting on the phone and calling up a few local sellers, at the very least this will start to give you a good idea of what's available for your budget. The Internet Ah yes, the internet! The world wide web is brimming with places to buy used cars. Many dealerships will have their own websites listing the cars they have for sale, and there are also websites such as Autotrader and Ebay where you can look at thousands of vehicles without leaving the comfort of your own home. Searching through Autotrader should have the same effect as looking through the local ads. Due to the huge amount of cars advertised here, you can really get a good idea and picture of the market. Ebay should be treated with caution as you will most likely be committing to buying the car before you've seen it. If you know what you are doing, Ebay can give a great bargain....just approach it with care! Used Car Dealers Some people love taking a Saturday and looking around all the local used car dealers, and some people hate it! This can be one of the safest methods of buying a used car, as the deal can be done face to face and most dealers will offer some form of warranty with the car. You also have the option of part exchanging your current car and this can be a great bargaining tool when buying. With all the other sources of used cars at your finger tips, going to a physical car dealer will always give you a better feel for what your money will get you.
