Carmakers announce sales figures |

Carmakers have announced sales figures for the month of February 2010. Here is an overview of the figures posted by some of the leading car brands in the country. Honda Honda Siel Cars India sold 55,884 units during the period April '09 - February '10 as against 45,052 units during the same period last year recording an increase of 24%. The company sold 6275 units during the month of February'10 as against 5579 units sold during the corresponding month last year recording an increase of 12.5%. Honda sold 233 units of Jazz, 5076 units of Honda City, 538 units of Civic, 299 units of Accord and 129 units of CR-V. Toyota Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) posted 101 per cent growth in sales with 5993 units sold in February 2010, as compared to 2976 units in the same month last year. The sales are largely attributed to Innova, Corolla and Fortuner at 4142, 863 and 972 units respectively. The cumulative sales for the period Jan-Feb 2010 stand at 11,982 units, recording an increase of 109 per cent increase over the same period last year. During this time, Toyota Innova, Corolla and Fortuner sold 8278, 1787 and 1875 units respectively. "Our customers continue to repose their faith in Toyota, which is reflected in our increasing month-on-month sales figures," said Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, (Marketing) TKM. Fiat Fiat India Automobiles announced a growth of 78 per cent in sales for the month of February 2010 over February 2009. The total sales of Fiat India (including exports) in February 2010 stood at 2,335 as compared to 1,309 vehicles sold in February 2009. The company's cumulative sales (including exports) for the fiscal currently stands at 23,551 vehicles as against 6,897 vehicles sold last year. With these impressive numbers, Fiat India has witnessed a 241% growth in fiscal sales for the year 2009-10 as against 2008-09. Hyundai Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) posted sales of 31,001 units in the domestic market registering 46.1 per cent growth over the same month last year. HMIL's total sales for February, 2010 stood at 54,617 units as against 38,235 units in February, 2009 registering 42.8 per cent cumulative growth. The domestic sales growth accounted for 31,001 units as against 21,215 units in February, 2009. The exports grew from 17,020 units in February, 2009 to 23,616 units in February, 2010 reflecting 38.8 per cent growth year on year. "The 2% hike in excise duty which was subsequently levied might result a correction in demand in the short run," said Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL. Santro, Hyundai i10, Getz and i20 sold 50,515 units, Accent and Verna sold 4,051 units, Sonata Transform sold 50 units and in the SUV segment the Tucson sold 1 unit. TATA Tata Motors' total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for February 2010 were 66,190 nos., a 56 per cent growth over 42,493 nos. sold in February last year. The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution off take of 29,241 nos. (26,985 Tata + 2,256 Fiat) in the domestic market in February 2010, the highest ever and a 43.7 per cent increase compared to 20,348 nos. (19,039 Tata + 1,309 Fiat) in February last year. Sales of Tata cars, at 26,985 nos. are the highest ever and a growth of 42 per cent over February 2009. Sales of the Tata Nano were 4,105 nos, Indica range sales were 11,502 nos, Indigo range recorded sales of 7,373 nos and the Sumo/Safari range accounted for sales of 4,005 nos.
