HELP CHILDREN DEVELOP A SENSE OF VOCAL PITCH |

Singing is such a fun and natural activity that most support the idea of encouraging children to sing from a very early age. Their exuberance and lack of inhibition make it much easier for them to sing out without fear of making mistakes like singing the wrong rhythm or producing the wrong voice pitch. Of course, they usually do hear their mistakes, and they correct them easily. But they are not so easily embarrassed as teenagers or adults. I believe that their young ears are more open and in some sense more fine-tuned than those of adults, so it is easier for them to match vocal pitch and hear intervals. Children have varied abilities for singing on pitch or singing off pitch, some being born with perfect pitch and others having a harder time hearing singing pitch. But at such an early age, it is not difficult for even the more challenged children to learn to match vocal pitch when a teacher helps them to hear it. Some have noted the positive effects of music on children with disabilities; it can both stimulate and calm them. Games can be made for children to play that will help them with vocal pitch and understanding music. Helping a child acquire accurate vocal pitch at an early age will give them a gift for life. One should also incorporate games to develop a strong sense of rhythm, and also work on coordination with physical activities and dance. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
